A: The process is used to ensure that the coating applied remains bonded to the surface and is as follows:
1. Remove all caulking from around the tub.
2. The tub is thoroughly cleaned using a silicon carbide scrubber. If the surface has be coated prior, the old coating must be preped.
4. The surface is the dried and a strong deglossing agent is applied to the surface, creating a porous substrate for the coating to bond to.
5. All chips and damage are repaired using a two part filler, which is then shaped to conform surrounding tub surfaces.
6. The surface is cleaned once again to remove any residue which may adversely affect the high build primer.
7. The tub is completely masked off from adjacent surfaces with industrial masking papers and tarps.
8. Ventilation equipment is put in place. The surface is now ready to accept enhanced high build primer.
9. Once the high build primer has dried, the first of three finish coats, (in the color chosen) is applied. Each layer becoming crossed link, bonded, with the previous coat ensuring a uniform high gloss finished product.
10. The tech will then remove all tarps and equipment, leaving the masked tub as the surface is still wet. The tub surface will dry to the touch within 30 minutes, and is usable in 24 hours.
11. If you have chosen to remove the masking, caulk the tub and re-install the hardware you may do so. If you are unable to do this our tech is able to this for an additional charge.
